It is very important for cats to drink fresh plain water to maintain their kidney health and also to keep them alive. We usually don't get to see them drinking a lot or drinking water from their water bowl because they get the water and moisture from the food they eat. And lack of water usually results in your darling kitty getting constipation. And this is bad. Very bad. My cat had constipation. It was so bad, my vet had to perform the "Sub-total Colectomy" surgery on him. What this operation does is that it removes the colon and joins the small intestine to the rectum, therefore shortening the passage of the intestine. Since then, I had to make sure he has sufficient water to maintain his kidney health and his overweight issues.
